About Us

Training is extremely important for performing any activity.  Training also provides the means to accomplish changes and developments.  This establishment has been founded with a view to provide training opportunity to personnel from different industries.

Our mission is to provide innovative and focussed training in the fields of quality management and measurement assurance system, at a reasonable cost, both open as well as in-house, such that the participants feel sufficiently educated at the end of each program in order to enhance their skill and competency in the respective fields of activity.

Measurement

Almost all quality related decisions in a manufacturing scenario are based on data generated through measurement.  Though the decision making involves use of different management techniques, the success of the decisions would depend largely on the quality and reliability of the data.  In fact, decision based on unreliable data could be counter-productive.  For the data or the output of the measurement to be reliable, the measurement process itself must be reliable.

In order to achieve this, it is necessary to understand the measurement process, its variables and how to control them so that the reliability of the measurement data can be quantified and assured for all specified measurements.

Experience

?

Has been involved with all facets of Product Quality and Quality Systems over the last 46 years in the field of engineering items and material testing.  Was one of the founder members of Pilot Test House of the Govt. of India, Ministry of Commerce, a premier test and calibration centre of the country.  Had set up test facilities in the fields of electrical parameters, dimensional metrology, photometry and a host of items like electrical fans, power driven pumps, diesel engines, domestic appliances.

?

Was trained in Laboratory Management in UK in 1988 under the Indo-EEC Co-operation and participated in the Workshop on “Standards in Trade” in 1995 in the NIST of the USA, as a member of the Indian delegation.

?

Had set up calibration facilities in the field of electrical parameters like current/voltage/power/resistance etc., dimensional metrology, pressure & vacuum using dead weight pressure tester, photometric equipment like luxmeters / reference lamps etc.  Also by virtue of long experience in providing consultation to calibration laboratories for accreditation, is fully conversant of calibration techniques of pH meters, conductivity meters, analytical equipment like GC-MS, HPLC, LCMS, AAS etc using Certified Reference Material (CRM) in the field of chemical measurement.  Is also conversant with calibration of glassware, weighing balance, temperature indicators, hot air ovens, refrigerators, incubators etc.

Achievements

i)

As the International Consultant of International Trade Centre (ITC/UNCTAD/WTO), had successfully completed two major components of the project of quality improvement of leather sector in Bangladesh.

a)

Accreditation of the laboratories of Bangladesh College of Leather Technology to ISO/IEC 17025 was achieved in March 2009 after a 3-year concerted work overcoming a number of challenges, so that the improvement of leather quality could be monitored and improved through reliable test data.

b)

The second component was to improve productivity & profitability through quality system approach in five selected entrepreneurs.  Within a short span of just one year, the focused training and advice provided to these entrepreneurs resulted in substantial benefit in the form of increased turnover (as much as three times in one enterprise), increased productivity, appreciable change in attitude towards quality, improved housekeeping, attention to safety & health issues.

ii)

As the Sr. Laboratory Accreditation Expert of the BSI Group, UK, had been involved in the project for capacity building project of the Rwanda Standards Board (RSB), Rwanda.  As part of this project, had conducted a number of training for the personnel of National Quality Testing Laboratory (NTQL) and provided facilitation to NTQL for obtaining accreditation as per ISO/IEC 17025 by a full member of International laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC).

iii)

As an UNIDO Consultant, has provided support for capacity building to the National Health Laboratory of Maldives Food & Drug Authority, Govt of Maldives and Central Food Laboratory, DFTQC, Min of Agricultural Development, Nepal for maintenance of accreditation status through a number of training programmes on quality related topics, gap analysis and effective advice on quality system improvement.

iv)

Was involved in the development of laboratory accreditation process in the country through a number of important activities.  Some of these were:

a)

Chairman of the Technical Committee on Photometry of the National Accreditation Board for Laboratories (NABL) and Member of the NABL Technical Committees on Clinical & Food Testing Laboratories

b)

Member of the NABL Accreditation Committee for Calibration Laboratories

c)

Member of the Review Committee of NABL & NPL on Measurement Uncertainty
